When to Go to the ER Instead
Urgent care handles a lot — but some symptoms need an emergency room. Call 911 or go to the nearest ER for any of these:
- Chest pain, pressure, or tightness
- Difficulty breathing at rest
- Signs of stroke: face drooping, one-sided weakness, slurred speech, sudden confusion
- Severe or rapidly worsening abdominal pain
- Uncontrolled bleeding or deep wounds
- Head injury with loss of consciousness or repeated vomiting
- Seizures or new seizure activity
- Severe allergic reaction: swelling of face, lips, or tongue
- High fever in infants, or high fever with lethargy
- Thoughts of harming yourself or others
